1) ARRIVING BY PLANE

From AMSTERDAM SCHIPHOL AIRPORT

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is the main airport of the Netherlands and the one closest to the city of Amsterdam. It is located 18km southwest of the city.

To go to Amsterdam Central, the fastest and the cheapest option would be by train. After collecting your bags, follow the signs from the arrivals hall to Schiphol Plaza, where you can purchase your train-tickets in one of the many yellow ticket machines or at the ticket-counter.

TRAIN

The Schiphol Airport Train Station is located directly below the airport. It only takes a couple of minutes to walk from the arrival halls to Schiphol Plaza. From there, the escalators and lifts descend to the platforms. If you are taking the train, please also see below for detailed walking-instructions.

Remember to purchase your tickets before you board the train. One way ride cost is EUR 4.90 (2nd class) or EUR 8.33 (1st class) per person. Do not buy return tickets unless you plan to return to the airport on the same day. Before boarding the train, you must check-in, by holding your train-ticket against one of the yellow check-in poles. In order to leave the train-station in Amsterdam you must hold the same card against the scanner, and the gates will open.

The train-ride from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station is around 15-20 minutes. More info via this: https://www.schiphol.nl/en/page/by-train-from-schiphol/

TAXI

If you wish to take a taxi, there is a taxi stand outside the airport. Simply head to the taxi rank in front of Schiphol Plaza. You’ll find cars and larger vans, which are ideal for group travellers. Official taxis in the Netherlands are metered, and most drivers speak good English. A ride to the Amsterdam City-centre will cost you around EUR 60. Alternatively, you can use UBER or BOLT (prices vary).

2) ARRIVING BY TRAIN

From AMSTERDAM CENTRAL STATION

OPTION 1:

AIRPORT TRAIN RIDE + 10 MINUTES WALK

From the airport take the train to Central Station Amsterdam. Trains leave every 10 minutes and the ride is about 20 minutes.

Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, take the right most exit and you will be greeted by the city! In front of the station you will see Victoria Hotel, on your far left you will see a big church, and Ibis Hotel on your right. Cross the road and walk towards Cafe Karpershoek opposite the Art’Otel (next to Victoria Hotel). The street next to Cafe Karpershoek is called Martelaargracht, take that street and stay on the right as the street will split 100 meters after. Take the smaller street on the right called Spuistraat. Walk further down until you reach number 62 on your right. We are next to Wild Romance Hair Salon and Amour Bakery.

3) ARRIVING BY CAR

Street parking in Amsterdam is very difficult and expensive. It will cost EUR 7.50 per hour to park your car on the street in the historic city-centre, this includes parking in front of the house (24 hours per day, 7 days per week).

THE MOST CONVENIENT OPTION is to park your car in the parking-garage Q-Park Nieuwendijk, which is only a couple of metres walk from our property. Alternatively, you could also park at Q-Park Amsterdam Centraal, which is about 8 minutes walk away.

Please see https://www.q-park.nl/en-gb/ for your options and exact rates.

THE CHEAPEST OPTION is to park your car just outside the city center in one of the many P+R (Park & Ride) for EUR 6.00 per 24 hours (if you enter after 10 AM). We recommend P+R ArenA, P+R Sloterdijk, P&R Boven 't Y or P&R Zeeburg - all of which are well connected by public transport with Amsterdam Central Station.

Please click here for more information about P+R parking in Amsterdam. Please carefully read the conditions that apply for onward travel to the city-centre.
